FATALLY INJURED.

STRUCK BY MAIL TRAIN. AGED CHINAMAN'S DEATH.

TULLY, May 22.

Yan Yee, a Chinaman, aged 75, whilst walking along the railway

line between Tully station and Banyan bridge, was run into by the southern-bound Cairns mail

train, sustaining a compound and commuted fracture of both ankles

and a probable fracture of the skuIl. He died whilst being con-

veyed by the Tully Ambulance to

the Tully General Hospital.

FAILED TO HEAR.

Deceased, who it is stated, was afflicted with deafness, was proceed-

ing to his home and apparently failed to hear the oncoming train. He had resided in the district about seven years, and previously

had worked on the Palmer goldfields,

Georgetown and Babinda. A COINCIDENCE.

About six months ago, Yan Yee was the first person to find the mangled remains of Daniel Sheehan along the railway line between Feluga

andTully.

Twenty-one pounds in notes were

found on deceased.
