LONDON, July 4.

'THE principal types of British tanks are being given names

of popular appeal with the idea of encouraging public contribu-

tions to purchase them in the same way as Spitfires were bought.

The "Evening Standard" says that one type - a 30-ton vehicle - is named "Waltzing Matilda".

Speed - the - Tanks funds are springing up all over the coun-try. Individuals and communities are subscribing to purchase a tank and have it named after them.
