First prize in the 1953 Dunlop Art Contest has been won by a 39yearold Melbourne artist. Mr.

scou fencueoury. 01 «jauifield. His winning entry was 'Late Afternoon — Rhyll.' and was his -third award in the four years of the competition. Last year Mr. Pendlebury was third and the year before fourth.Mr. Mr. Pendlebury plans to use the £300 prize for a trip overseas with his wife, Nornie Gude. who won the' 1941 National Gallery Travelling Scholarship. Results:— Oil paintings — First prize (£300). Scott Pendlebury; second (£200). Arthur Boyd; third (£100), Max Ragless; fourth (£75). Max Middleton; fifth (£75), Howard Ashton; sixth (£50). Lawrence M. Daws. A special prize of £50 was awarded to Reshid Bay for his painting 'Studio Corner.' Watercolors — First prize (£75), Leonard Annqis; second (£50X, Jacqueline Hick: third (£30). Catherine Munro Jarvis; fourth, John Loxton; fifth, H. R. Gallop.
