THE AMANA CRASH Searchers Praised By Minister CANBERRA, Oct. 10: The Minister for Civil Aviation (Mr. White) has written to West Australian residents, thanking them for services rendered when the airliner Amana crashed on June 2. In a letter to Mr. F. J. McNamara, of York, Mr. White said: "The part played by you and your sons in the search and location of the wreckage of the airliner Amana has been brought to my notice. Your sound organisation of limited resources and unrelenting efforts under extremely difficult conditions were primarily responsible for considerably reducing the time in which help was available to those in need. "It is most regrettable that your care and attention to Mr. E. Forward was not rewarded by his recovery. I assure you that all people aware of the circumstances have deep admiration for the great spirit of fellowship displayed by you on the night in question. "As Minister for Civil Aviation and on behalf of the Australian public, I wish to commend and thank you for what you have done."
