MONDAY'S TRAGIC SKYMASTER CRASH

The Australian National Airways Skymaster Amana which crashed on Monday night. This picture shows the aircraft on the tarmac at Guildford airport.

Wreckage of the plane strewn over a wide area. Some of the members of the rescue party who had to tramp over miles of rough country to find the plane, are examining the wreckage.

Three of the victims of the crash were the Bishop of Riverina (Dr. C. H. M. Murray), left, the Dean of Newcastle (the Very Rev. N. J. Blow), centre, and Mr. K. Douglas, managing-director of the Winterbottom Motor Co., of Perth.

Mr. Frank McNamara (right) with his two sons, Colin (left) and Leonard, cooking a meal for the rescue party early yesterday morning. Mr. McNamara was the first to arrive at the scene of the crash and found the sole survivor, Mr. Edgar Forwood. Mr. McNamara and his two sons worked for several hours trying to locate other possible survivors before the arrival of the main rescue team from Perth.

Twisted and battered, one of the four engines of the Skymaster lies half buried in the undergrowth, some distance from the main wreckage. In front of it is a twisted airscrew.
