Sands Leaves State Ron Sands, the Midland-Guildford wicketkeeper who has once played for the State, has left Western Australia to live in Sydney. He intends to try his luck with the St. George club. At one stage Sands, brilliant at times, gave promise of developing into a first-class 'keeper and had he remained here might have been Kessey's successor min the State team. He developed skill as a 'keeper in services cricket during the war and C. Puckett hailed him as a coming champion. He played for Subaco and then transferred to MidlandGuildford, for whom he has played consistently well this season. Without Driver and Sands, Midland-Guildford is weakened considerably. Eric James, the Cranbrook spin bowler who. last season took 64 wickets at 12.04 for East Perth and this season has taken 49 at 16.0 for Nedlands, has given up first-grade cricket for this season. He has returned to Cranbrook and Nedlands will miss him. He will be replaced tomorrow by the 19-year-old Peter Lushey, who has made a rapid rise throngh the grades. Last season Lushey took 62 wickets at 8.66 in the C grade. Charlesworth will be back in the Nedlands team tomorrow. The Claremont-Cottesloe captain, C. Bennet, will lead his team tomorrow against Bassendean for the first time for some weeks. He has returned from a holiday trip to Adelaide.
