PARTIAL BAN ON WATER ' "No Change" At Present "There will be no change in the existing water restrictions while the hot weather lasts," the Under-Secretary of the Metropolitan Water Supply, Sewerage and Drainage Department (Mr. J. C. Hutchinson) said yesterday. The amount of water the department could get each day from the hills reservoirs and bores averaged about 49.000.000 gallons. That amount would be exceeded on days when sprinklers- were permitted from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. The present restrictions permit the use of sprinklers on street lawns and inside gardens from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays and Wednesdays and from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 6 p.m to 9 p.m. on other days. Watering by hand is permitted at all times. Sprinklers may be used on market gardens, nurseries, parks. etc., as required. CONCRETE CHANNEL. Mr. Hutchinson said yesterday that the consumption to 9 a.m. was 45.500,000 gallons. It was estimated that the consumption to 9 a.m. today would be considerably higher. The The open concrete water channel from Canning Dam to Perth, in which the break occurred which enforced restrictions; normally brought to Perth about 27,000,000 gallons a day, he said. Now, with the break repaired, a little over 20,000,000 gallons a day was coming down the channel.
