BUILDING OF SCHOOL Department's Action Criticised KATANNING, Nov. 1: A public meeting at the Woodanilling Hall last night considered a proposal by the Education Department that a new school capable of accommodating children up to and including third standard be built at Woodanilling and that older children be taken to Katanning by bus. The Woodanilling State School was destroyed by fire on July 1. At the meeting it was learnt that the department had already called tenders for a second school bus to carry out its proposal. By a unanimous decision, the meeting adopted a resolution of strong protest against the action of the Minister and the department, which was in complete disregard of feeling expressed at the previous Woodanilling meeting. By 40 votes to six, the meeting also resolved that a request be made for the building of a school at Woodanilling capable of accommodating children up to and including fifth standard, with older children being taken at Katanning. Paralysis: One case of poliomyelitis was reported in Victoria yesterday, bringing the total, for the year to 684. The patient was a woman, aged 23, from Carlton.
