PERSONAL Mr. Ross McLarty, the Premier, attended the first meeting of the Pinjarra branch of the Liberal Party last night. He will take part in the annual reunion of the Harvey sub-branch of the ReturrJ Servicemen's League tomorrow night. The Most Rev. R. W. H. Moline, Anglican Archbishop ot Perth, consecrated the Lee Steere memorial sanctuary of St. Stephen's Church, Toodyay, yesterday evening. ThiMinister for Lands (Mr. L. Thorn) was present. Mr. V. Doney, Minister for Works and Water Supply, will visit Kellerberrin and Kodjkodjin during the weekend. Mr. S. Buttfield, senior inspector, has been appointed ActingCollector of Customs in W.A. during the absence of Mr. F. I. Hansen on holidays in the Eastern States.Mr. Mr. H. F. Richardson, managing-director of Cox Bros. (Australia) Ltd., arrived in Perth by air on Wednesday to join the Strathaird for London. Mr. Richardson is deputy chairman of the Commonwealth Disposals Commission and a director of several other companies, and he will visit Britain, Europe and U.S.A. on business. He will be away about six months. Mr. A. C. C. Holtz, wellknown Melbourne newspaperman, died yesterday aged 74. He was general manager of the Argus and Australasian Ltd. from 1920 to 1936. Mr. C. R. Muirson, chief compiler in the Registrar-General's office, has been appointed Deputy Government Statistician. Mr. G. K. Baron Hay, chairman of the Land Settlement Board, who visited Sydney to confer with the Commonwealth Director of War Service Land Settlement (Mr. W. A. McLaren), returned to Perth by air last night. Mr. H. Boas, chairman of the W.A. Division of the Australian National Committee of the United Nations, the vice-chairman (Mr. W. E. Pickering) and the honorary treasurer (Mrs. M. Wilkinson) were air passengers test night for Canberra to attend a conference of representatives of all State divisions of the committee.
