FASHIONS FOR THE WEEK.

sea-water: COAT.

for the coming winter The popularity of

the warm coat- for outside wear is well as, sured. Already fine displays of these are taking the place of the summer garments which up to the last few weeks filled the i shop windows.- The newest style of coat is most attractive! but in many cases where

fur is used as trimming and the material of the coat is Velour it certainly becomes ' rather" expensive. But it comfort is undeniable,

and when the material is the true velour it is as warm as a blanket and as soft and light in weight in Pyrenees flannel 1 of the pre-war days. The newest style of l top coat is shown in the picture selected for reproduction this week; and in this in'stance the garment is almost like a coat

flock, for when the high fur collar is an' fastened it lies back, and the neck is left

fairly open. In this way the cost would be quite suitable for occasions such as an

afternoon at home. The loose hanging

side panels are a feature of the new

fashions, and they often figure in suitable material on evening gowns as well as on indoor frocks, in the case of the coast they are weighted with fur, and it is interesting to learn that the most suitable skin for the purpose is "more money.'' This is the latest form in which the familiar "wild rabbit"' is making its appearance. How-ever, the transformation from ordinary rabbit-skins to the expensive mode money cannot be effected in Australia, for the art is known only to Ktitoperm and American fur experts. In. appearance more money closely resembles real moleskin, but it is not nearly so expensive."
