SIR TALBOT HOBBS MEMORIAL. Memorial gates erected in honour of the late Lieutenant-General Sir J. Talbot Hobbs will be officially unveiled at 3.15 p.m. tomorrow at the entrance to the Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club's premises by the Lieutenant-Governor (Sir James Mitchell), who will be attended by the heads of the three arms of the defence forces and the flag officers of the club. A guard of honour will be drawn from the military forces and returned soldiers of the late general's wartime command. The band of the Royal Australian Naval Reserve will play. Recessed on an arc from the alignment of the boundry between the club's premises and the Keane's Point reserve, the gates are of wrought iron and are hinged on massive brick pillars which are adorned at the top by a laurel wreath with the monogram J.T.H. There is also a memorial plaque on one pillar. On each side of the vehicular entrance is a wrought iron pedestrian gate, with two further pillars and a brick wall extending to the park alignment. The main columns of the vehicular entrance are surmounted with port and starboard lights in a brass setting. Members of the club and friends of the late general have subscribed to the memorial, which perpetuates the service to the club by the late Sir Talbot Hobbs as its patron for many years.
