MT. LAWLEY IMPROVEMENTS. Loan of £14.776 Proposed. The raising of a loan of £14,776 for expenditure on roads, footpaths and drainage at Mt. Lawley was approved at a meeting of the Perth Road Board on Tuesday night. It was decided to refer to the Perth City Council, for joint action, a proposal to widen Walcott-street between Macpherson-street and Ardrosscrescent. The proposed work, which was set out in a report presented by the board's engineer (Mr. F. A. Potts), provides for construction of an underground stormwater drain beginning near the intersection of Elstree-avenue and Clyde-road and traversing Clyde-road, Invernesscrescent and Graham-road to the Lanarkstreet intersection. It is proposed to have branch drains in Ardross-crescent, Macpherson-street, Inverness-crescent, Elstree-avenue and Holmfirth-street. The work will include additions to existing underground stormwater drains in Rookwood, Woodlands, Thongsbridge and Ferrar streets. The widening of sections of the following streets from 16ft. to 20ft., with concrete kerbing and a two-coat bitumen surface, is intended:-Holmfirth-street, Inverness, Dumbarton and Ardross crescents, Graham-road, Eanark-street, Elstree-avenue, Clyde-road, Melrose-crescent, Alexander-drive and Macpherson-street. The scheme provides for new construction work in Ferrar, Woodlands and Robin streets. These streets will be 16ft. wide and will be surfaced with bitumen. It is expected that contingencies, cost of supervision and initial expenditure in connection with raising of the loan will amount to £1,290.
