CLAREMONT'S VICTORY. After a most discouraging start Clare-mont struck good form at Perth Oval on Saturday and was able to beat East Perth by 12 points. Had East Perth's shooting for goal in the first quarter been up to standard It must have established a for-midable lead. Final scores: Clanemont .. .. .. 13.9 (87 pts.) East Perth .. .. .. 10.15 (75 pts.) Goal-kickers—Claremont: Kenworthy and Compton (4 each). G. Moloney (2), Gibson, Bermingham and Heusler. East Perth: Neeson, Broom and Gardiner (2 each), H. Screaigh, J. Sweet, R. Graham and Lockyer. Headon was probably Claremont's best player; he always seemed to be in the right position in defence. Hunt played a fine game in the ruck and S. Clarke was in great form at half-back. S. Moloney and Grieve also defended ably. Hooper, Kenworthy, Compton, Lovegrove, and Reid were the best of the others. East Perth's most reliable player was Thomas, in a back pocket but in point of effectiveness Cronin must be ranked high. H. Smith was dashing and tena-cious. Broom, in unobtrusive style, played well. Rowland, Fogarty (first half) and A. Campbell were prominent. Miller, when on the right wing, was out-standing and Hall was nippy. Starr lost all effectiveness in the second half.
