SWAN DISTRICTS OUTCLASSED. East Perth Superior in Drab Came. Surer in its handling of the ball, and playing with more dash and cohesion, East Perth defeated Swan Districts by 30 points in a drab game 't Perth Oval. In the first quarter East Perth failed to make full use of the strong wind, but in the second term It made itself safe by almost doubling Swan Districts' meagre tally. 'There was little interest in the second half, and with good football out of the question under the conditions, few were sorry when the end came. The teams were:-EST PERTH.-Haks: J. Sweet. Ward. Thomas. Half-backs: H. Smith Starr. Mussman. Centres: Miller. Cronin, Hall. Halfforwards: Broom, Lockyer. Rowland. Forwards: R. Graham. Gardiner, J. Campbell. Ruck: B. Ryan. Fogarty. A Campbell (rover). Nineteenth man: McEncroe (retlaced Fogarty, insured shoulder. in last quarter). ESWAN DISTRICTS.--Backs: Molse Mercer, Bastow. Half-backs: Maynard, Zilko, Lambert. Centres: Jones. Sinclair. Mosey. Halfforwards: Annesley. Andrews. Holmes. Forwards: Green. Ditchburn, Rosewarne. Ruck: Murray, Chester. Sweetapple (rover). Nineteenth man: J. Clarke (replaced Lambert, Insured shoulder, at half-time). UMPIRE.-V. Sparrow. * East Perth used Thomas and Mussman alternately: as loose men in the first quarter, but the side did not take full advantage of the wind. A tremendous punt for goal by Lockyer provided a highlight, but frequently the ball- was forced Into the wrong pocket, and Inaccurate kicking prevented East Perth from building up a big lead. Swan Districts was held scoreless in the first term, East Perth tallying 3.9, and after the change-over East Perth battled upfleld for two more goals to give it an a4vantage 'of 39 points. When, after ten minutes, Ditchburn opened Swan Districts' account with a goal from a free there was a prolonged demonstration from te crowd, which claimed that J. Sweet should have been awarded the kick for interference. East Perth's backs were very solid, notably Thomas, J. Sweet and Starr, and with R. Graham, Fogarty and A. Campbell dominating the ruck, the side was playing better than it had done in the first term. East Perth led at balf-tlmim with 7.11 to 2.2, but In the third quarter received solid opposition from M[ose, Zilko and the other Swan Districts backs, and was able to increase its score by only 2.4 while again holding its opponent scoreless. East Perth had scored 915 to 2.2 at three-quarter time, and in the last term Swan Districts showed its best form in adding 4.1 while East Perth failed to score. East Perth may have done better by concentrating play on the wing which made scoring difcult. Final scores were:-EAST PERTH .. .. 9.15 (69 pis.) SWAN DISTRICTS. 6.3 (39 pta) Scorers:--East Perth: Lockyer, 3.0; Rowland, 2.3; A. Campbell, 2.0; Fogarty, 1.2; -ardiner, 1.0;" J. Campbell and R. Graham, 03; Broom, 0.2; Ryan, 01; one behind forced through. Swan Districts: Ditchburn and Rosewarne, 2.0; Sweetapple and Annesley, 1.1; one behindi forced through. East Perth received best service from R. Graham, Fogarty and A, Campbell, who gave the side a big advantage on the ball. J. Sweet, Thomas and Starr were the most dependable of the backs, Lockyer did well at half-forward, and of the others, Rowland, Hall, Broom and Cronin did best. Few of the Swan Districts men showed to advantage all through, but Mosey battled tigerishly on a wing, and Sinclair was useful in the centre. -Mose and Ziko were solid in defence, and the most prominent of the others were Maynard, Annesley, Clarke, Sweetapple, Andrews and Ditchburn.
