MINERS AND TAXATION.

Nd Payment on Incomes,Under'£300.

LITHGOW (N.S.W.), Tluu-sday. - 'Hie miners of the Western district have en-dorsed the proposal of the Hermitage lodge that income tax exemptions should be raised to £300, and that members refuse to pay any tax unless their full income-ex-ceeds that amount. 'Hie -whole of the 21 lodges voted solidly for the suggestion. Tile proposal is now being voted upon by every lodge nffiliited with the Miners' Federa-tion. It is also suggested that if any mem-ber is imprisoned, or his his wages gar nisheed, for refusing to pay tax, a general strike will be declared until the member is released, or his money refunded.
