COAL FRONT ACCURACY. East Fremanute's Easy Win. Winning in the forward line East Fremantle had little dificulty in beating Subiaco at Subiaco Oval on Saturday. The conditions were such that good fogtball was out of the question but on occasions the players handled the heavy ball in fine style and clever passages of football were witnessed. Subiaco played strongly at times but niost of the moves broke down In the full forward line. Across thq centre Subiaco had the call but once the ball passed the half-forward line East Fremantle was supetior. Considering the bad weather East Fremantle's shooting for goal was excellent; 17 goals coming from 28 shots. An amusing incident occurred towards the close of the third quarter when the bal- was kicked over the fence and could not be found. Another ball was secured but as soon as it appeared the lost ball was found. The teams were:EAST FREMANTLE.-Backs: Briggs. A. Kingsbury. Louthean. Half-backs: Clark, Hutchinson, Gabrielson. Getting the ball away from the centre Subiaco had an early advantage and two goals resulted. G. Doig scored East Premantle's first goal with a clever left foot snap shot. The play hovered amnldfeld for most of the quarter Sublaco was having most of the play but weak forward work spoilt most of its moves. At quarter-ttime East Fremantle led, 2.5 to 2-1. Rain fell throughout the second quarter and good football was impossible. East Fremantle found the road to the goals much easier than tjubisco. which still cpud not keep the ball moving between the full forwards. Slowly but saurely East Premantle consolidated its position and althodigh Subiaco battled bard it could not gain ground. At halftime East Fremantle led 7.4 to 2.6. Two quick goals to East Fremantle in the third quarter made the game safe. Bunton, who was playing well, hit the post for the second time. The pace was fast and Subiaco was having plenty of the play. At one stage it was within 11 points of its opponent, but two goals to East Fremantle gave it a handy lead. At three-quarter time East Fremantle led 12.5 to 7.13. East Fremantle played its best football in the last quarter. Breating away f?om the centre the ball flashed between thd players and goals came easily. Subiaco's defence lines wilted .under the pressure, and East Fremantle ran out an easy winner. The final scores were:EAST fREMANTLE 17.11 (113pt.) ?UmaOO .: .. .- 7.15 (57pts.) scorers:--~a st Fremantle: G. Doig, t.3; McGlinn, 23; Ebbs; 2.1; Strang, Prince, each 2.0; Beccarla, Wendt, each 1.1; McPharlin, 1.0; Donegan, C. Doig, each 0.1. Subiaco: Bunton,. 2.5; MIls, 1.1; Ca?ledge, B. Smith, Allen, Bennett, each 1.0; Shea, 0.5; Roe, N. Smith, eath 0.1; two points forced through.. Subiaco played hardest in the first hai and during that time Louthean was East Premantle's best player. Although he Is more suited to a dry day he handled the wet ball well and his cepring dashes were features of the game. McGlinn roved cleverly* and Ebbs and Wendt were forces in the ruck.. Hutchinson and Gabrielson were solid on the half-back line while others to do well were Kingsbury, Strang, Taylor and Briggs. Bunton was Subiaco's most sericeale player. He handled the get ball cleanly and was often responsible for putting his side in attack. -Bennett and Peets did well across the centre.line and maintained their dash throughout. Roe and Mills worked hard and Luke, Cumming, HIarlimap and 'Bowe were above the average.
