DERBY,, March 21.--Due to heavy rains and bog, cattle from Kimberley Downs station will be unable to reach Derby in time for shipment on the Charon next Thursday. This would have been the first shipment for the season but the Charon, bound from Singapore to Fremantle, will not now be calling here. The first shipment will now be a mob from Yeeda station by the Gorgon, due here from Singapore on April 5. These cattle oe still on the Broome side of tbe Fitzroy River and it will be a major problem swimming about 400 head across the present width of half a mile. The river is not likely to fall for a few days in view of the recent .heavy cyclonic downpours. Cockatoo Island, on Yampi Sound, has just had its third blow for the season. The Yampi Lass arrived from Cockatoo Island yesterday afternoon. .The postmaster at Yampi reports that high winds started on Sunday night, increasing to a maximum velocity of 76 miles per hour on Monday, when it rained all day, nine inches being registered for the 24 hours ended 8 a.m. on Tuesday. There was no damage apart frond rain forcing its way through the eaves into homes with some tents blown down.
