FLOORING TIMBER ARMY RELEASE APPROVED Value to Building Industry. The Acting-Premier (Mr. Hawke) said yesterday that approval had been given for the release of 32,000 feet of 5in. bye lin. tongued and grooved hardwood, suitable for flooring, now stacked at the Army Stores, Nungarin. The timber would be of tremendous value to the building industry. Mr. Hawke said that the question of disposing of about 40,000 lineal feet of hardwood at the Nungarin Army Stores had been mentioned to him by a delegate at a recent meeting of the Avon Valley district coun-I cil of the Australian Labour Party at Northam. He had taken the matter up with the army authorities, and]

more recently with the Minister for Trade and Customs (Senator Fraser). He had also asked the Premier (Mr. Wise) to have inquiries made while he was attending the Premiers" Conference in Canberra, with the object of pressing for release of the flooring for use in the building industry of this State. He had now received advice from both Mr. Wise and Senator Fraser to the effect that approval had been given for release of 32,000 feet of the flooring.
