It was reported to-day that Mr. D. R. O'Neill, accountant of Block 14, who is suffering from pneumonia and is a patient in Nurse Mallon's private hos-pital, had a good night and is a little

better.

A message from the Brisbane cor-respondent of "The Miner" says that Mrs. Margaret M'Donald, of Goodi-windi, who is 107 years of age, is claimed as the oldest woman living in Australia. She has not been away

from the district for 70 years.

The Sydney correspondent of "The Miner" telegraphs that Mr. William Francis Brennan, one of the oldest practising solicitors in Sydney, died at his residence, "Kilmarnock," Jersey-road, Woollahra, yesterday. The late Mr. Brennan, who was admitted to practice in 1875, was the inventor of the Brennan Compound Switch for the unification of railways gauge in Aus-tralia. He is a native of Sydney, and leaves a widow, one daughter, and two sons, Frank and Lieutenant J. C. Brennan, who served with the A.I.F. in France.
