RAIN SCATTERS EMUS.

Machine-gun Party Does Not leave.

PERTH, Monday.—Owing to timely rain-falls in the Campious district the thousands of emus which have been worrying settlers have scattered over a much wider area.

Settlers communicated to-day with the authorities in Perth, suggesting the post-ponement of the departure of the machine-gun party which had been authorized by the Minister of Defence (Sir George Pearce), in co-operation with the State Government, for the eradication of the pest.

The suggestion has been adopted.
