BRIAN O'CONNOR AN AIR PILOT

Brian O'Connor, former Queensland Sheffield Shield cricketer and now a pilot in the R.A.A.F., will leave for the south to-morrow.

Only son of Queensland's former Sheffield Shield captain and wicket keeper, L. P. D. O'Connor, Brian com-menced his cricketing career at 15 years of age with Valley. He played four Shield matches for Queensland, and also represented the State against Errol Holmes M.C.C. team in 1935-36. In his last season in Brisbane club cricket with Eastern Suburbs in 1939 40, he headed the Q.C.A. bowling aver-ages. Since then he has played with marked success as an all-rounder at Murwillumbah. Brian also played representative Rugby Union football for Brisbane, and was a member of the South Brisbane National Code team.
