The proprietors of the Cumberland Argus have purchased the rival local journal, the Cumberland Mercury. Both papers are Parramatta publications.

Benjamin Greaves, who wat recently brought back from Perth, W. A., charged with embezzling £250, the property of the Parramatta ¡Steamship Company, has been remanded for a week, bail being refused.
