AMUSEMENTS.

THE Taylor-Carrington Company last night proved once again the remarkable popularity of " East.Lynne" by playing to a house such as the Cosmopolitan Hall has probably never before contained. The attendance numbered 900; and a hundred or more were turned away at the doors. Not one word need be said of the play itself ; it was well presented and thoroughly enjoyed. To-night "The Strategist" will be put on.

Mr. James Hendy, the representative of the Seymonr-Forde Opera Co., arrived by express this morning to make arrangements for an opera season. The company's reper-toire includes " Girofle Girofla," .* Madame Angôt," "Maritana," "Les Cloches de Corneville," and "Bohemian Girl" The company comprises Messrs John Forde Fred Wentworth, Robert Fitzgerald, Erskine Scott,' Sam Gale, Harry Frahm, and the Misses Florence Seymour, Rosa Conroy, Madge Stackpole, Lena Young, with a scenic artist, and musical director. The box office arrangements will be in the hands of Wigg and Sons.

Dr. Arthur Goode, an Adelaide graduate,

has settled at The Norseman.
