THE YILGARN FIELD.

MR. A. T. PALMER, a rainer and pro-spector, formerly of Broken Hill, writ-ing from Yilgarn (W. A.), under date October 30, gives some particulars con-cerning those western goldfields. He says tho latest new rush is about 130 miles from Yilgarn, and the country is well watered till about 25 miles from

the spot. He would not advise any-

one to come to the field until the next wet season unless he is well equipped, as water is very scarce. They are paying ls. per gallon for water and .J id. per lb. for carrying stores from Yilgarn on camels. A few parties are getting gold, but others are getting nothing. "What work has been done is all surface picking. Mr. Palmer

thinks there is no doubt there will be

a big rush as soon as the rain sets in. Most of the nuggets found have come from the Bailey reef. There will be a fortnightly mail to the rush shortly. Tho best and cheapest way of reaching Yilgarn, Mr. Palmer says, is by the

French mailboats from Adelaide.
