Mrs. A. Murphy, of Esplanade. Semaphore, has been notified by the Minister for the Army that her husband. Pte. F. Murphy, died of

illness in a Japanese POW camp on October 18. 1943. Pte. Murphy is the only son of Mrs. Murphy. of Hall street. Semaphore, and the late Mr. James Murphy, of Moree, NSW.

PO Eric Hurrell. the only son of Mr. A. Hurrell and the late Mrs. Hurrell. has been reported killed in air operations in Europe on April 27, 1945. Before enlisting he was employed at the York Picture Theatre. . Mr and Mrs. S. W. Cook, of Chief street. Brompton. have been notified that their second son. Pte. Alfred Benjamin Cook, was wounded in action on May 3 Mrs. T. V. Trish. of Attrill avenue. Hilton, has been notified that her husband- L-Sgt. T. V. Trish. was seriously wounded on May 6, with the 9th Division in the Borneo cam-paign. He is the eldest son of Mrs. L. M. Trish and the late Mr. Trish. of Mile End It was incorrectly stated yesterday that the name was "Irish" Mr. and Mrs. E. W Wcston. oi Walkerville terrace, Walkenille. have been notified that their youngest son, Pte. E. L. Weston. was seriously wounded on May 11 in the Borneo campaign. Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Adams, of Forestville, have been notified that their only son. Sgt. Dean Adams, of the 9th Division, was wounded *-i action at Tarakan on May 7. Mr. and Mrs. M. R. McEwan. of Elizabeth street. Prospect, have re ceived advice that their younger son, Pte. Glenn McEwan. was wounded in action on May 6 with the 9th Division. Mrs. Dene Williams, ol North parade. Torrensville. has been noti fied that her husband. L-Bdr. James C. Williams, was wounded in ac tion recently. Mrs. T. H McFarlane, of Ward street, North Adelaide, has been advised that her husband, PO Tre-vor Hector McFarlane, has been released from a German POW camp and has arrived safely in England. PO McFarlane enlisted in November, 1941, and was trained in Australia and Canada. He was posted to a Halifax squadron in England and was reported missing on March 8, after a raid on Dort-mund. Other members of the crew of his bomber escaped, but PO McFarlane fell into a quarry, sustained slight head injuries, and was captured when only a few miles from the Rhine. Mrs. Peter Cudmore of Somer ton has received a cable from her husband, Capt Peter Cudmore, stating that he has arrived safely in England after having been a prisoner of war in Germany. He was captured in Crete in May, 1941. Capt. Cudmore, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs Paul Cudmore of Victor Harbor, left Australia with the 6th Division. He has a daughter aged four and a half whom he has never seen. Mr. W. G. Holland, of Gibson street. Bowden, has been notified that his son. Flt-Lt. A, J Holland. is now safe in England. Flt-Lt. Holland joined the RAF before war! was declared and was a prisoner ji for nearly three years. His plane; was shot down in one of the first;! 'major bombing raids on Germany.;; I Mrs. V. D. Hughes, of Stanley1 istreet. North Adelaide, has been! I informed that her eldest son. WO j R. D. Hughes, has been repatriated < from Germany. i Mrs. J H. MO'; Peate. saying that he has arrived i safely in England after having ; been a prisoner of war in Ger many. He was captured in Crete in May. 1941. ! Mr. and Mrs. W. Haines of Bower street, WoodvUle. have re ceived a cable from their son. Sgt. W. Haines. stating that he has been liberated from a POW camp; in Germany and is now in Eng-1 land. Sgt. Haines sailed for the' Middle East five years ago He was i captured in Crete.
