D.F.C. For Four South Australians

Four South Australian airmen have been awarded the Dis-tinguished Flying Cross. The cita-tions state that the recipients in-

variably displayed the utmost for-titude, courage and devotion to duty. News that the DFC has been awarded to their younger son, Flt-Lt William David Kenny, has been received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Kenny, of Wattle street, Malvern. Flt-Lt. Kenny, who is 23, was educated at Pulteney Grammar School and St. Peter's College and before joining the RAAF in 1941 was employed by Howard Smith Ltd. He left for overseas early in 1943 and has now completed two operational tours. He has bombed targets in many parts of Germany and the Continent. He says little about his work in letters home but according to a friend, he took part in D-Day operations. Flt-Lt. Kenny's elder brother, Chief Officer T. Kenny, is a mem-ber of the merchant navy.

Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Marshall, of Clarence Park, have been notified by the Air Board that their son, PO John F. Marshall, has been awarded the DFC. Before enlist-ing PO Marshall was employed at Buyers Ltd., and was educated at Christian Bros. College. Mrs. A. E. Crabb, of Murray street, Brighton, has been advised by the Air Board that her son, Flt-Lt. A. J. Crabb. has been awarded the DFC. Flt-Lt. Crabb left Australia in April, 1943. Before enlisting be was employed at the Church Office, Leigh street.

Mr. and Mrs. J. Richards, of East Moonta, have been notified by the Air Board that their son, PO K. L. Richards, has been awarded the DFC for gallant service in Eng land. PO Richards was born at Moonta and was educated at the Moonta Mines primary and Moonta high schools. He enlisted in De cember, 1941, and left for England in May, 1943. Before joining up he was an employe of Michell & Sons, Hindmarsh.
