ceived tnat Mr. Alexander Crawford, of. Victoria, the Manager of Dr. Hope\station, has narrowly escaped being murdered by theblacks. He came upon nineteen natives killing sheep, and tried to drive them off, but the natives showed fight and speared him. through the arm. Mr. Crawford fired upon them. A black boy came to his assistance,, and the savages eventually dispersed. Captain Hillman was presented last night with an address by the Perth Rifle Volunteers at the Town Hall on his return from a visit to England. A volunteer ball subsequently took place. The Supreme CQurt has disposed of all the minor cases. The Wontevivo murder case» to be tried on Monday next, before Mr. Justice Stone, excites great interest, the circumstances surrounding the affair being moat mysterious.
