HIGH-SCORING IN LACROSSE FINAL

University Easily Beats East Torrens

University easily defeated East Torrent in a high-scoring earn on Saturday to gain the lacrosse premiership for 1944. Both teams attacked strongly in the

opening stages, but good defence play prevented the forwards from breafcirj? through. However, the students were not to be denied, and erentuallv opened the scoring when Harbison was successful, this goal being -followed in quirk succession by three from N. Wallman Torrens was having its share of the pl*y but its forwards were not making the most of the opportunities presented. The quarter ended with Torrens five goal* in arrears. A feature of the game was the strong play of Krnihan at centre, as a result of which the students hid an advantage in the midfteld throughout. "Varsity was now playing excellent lacrosse, and. although Torrens scored tour coals before the long interval, the students had increased their lead to 7 goals. ?Varsity, by excellent play &> 'be forward lines, gradually increased Its lead, and. finishing much better than its opponents, ran out a winner by IS goals.
