TEROWIE, April 14.

The government township of Terowie, which has been surveyed on the eastern side of the main street of our township, was sold on Thursday last, the 8th inst, and realized verv high prices. The most im

tradespeople from various parts of the colony, so that we are expecting shortly to see a number of buildings erected. This will greatly improve the appearance and business facilities of our present one-sided town ship. Iha walls of a large and commodious hotel, being built by Mr. Slattery, of Kapunda, are fast rising, and there appears to be little doubt that the building will be completed within the time allowed by the Licensing Bench. I understand that Mr. Weinrich also intends to commence building without delay an hotel of con siderable proportions in a good position in the Govern ment township. Messrs. Jacob Sparnon & Co. are about to erect commodious yards and a convenient store for corn and chaff in the new township, while in the old Messrs. Bleechmore Brothers are preparing to build handsome additions to their present stores. The new mail contracts, which are now in full swing, make this a far more important mail station than heretofore, and as a keen competition has arisen between Messrs. Terry & Co. and Hill & Co., the convenience of passengers lias been greatly improved and the traffic iuelf much increased. The greatly in creasing traffic and business ot this district make the want ol a telegraph station and Post-Office daily more painfully felt. The same remark equally applies to the absence of police protection, which is the more felt on account of the great number of men working on the railway lines within a few miles of the town ship. Messrs. Keane & Co., the contractors of the Terowie and Orroroo Railway line, appear to be pushing the work on with all speed. The works in construction and the extensive main camp present a very interest ing appearance to travellers between this and Yongaia.
