MELBOURNE, Thursday.

In the proposed Federal electoral divisions the Herbert electorate will comprise the State electoral districts of Burke, Cairns, Carpentaria, Cook, Croydon, Flinders, the Woothakata part of the Herbert electorate com prising the State electoral divisions of Cardwell, Herberton, Ingham, Mourilyan ; that part of the Gregory comprising the State electoral divi-sions of Boulia and Winton ; and that part of the Mitchell comprising the State electoral division of Longreach. The total number of electors in the division will be 10,645.

The Bill introduced by Sir George Turner to establish a bonus on white grown sugar instead of the present rebate, provides for a grant of 4s per ton calculated on cane giving 10 per cent. of sugar, to be made to every grower of sugar cane within the Com-monwealth who, after the 18th Febru-ary last year, employed white labor solely in the production.

The Public Service Commissioner has recommended to the Cabinet the appointment of Charles Powers Crown Solicitor, Queensland, to the position of Solicitor-General to the

Commonwealth.
