Twenty-nine injured were taken to hospital. The search ia continuing for others feared trapped in the wrecked fourcar diesrt nain which collided htsd-on with a shunting en-gine.

The first car. which was a power unis, and the second car of the diesel train were wreck-ed as the shunting engine ploughed through them.

The ¿aird car was flung back cn the roof of the fourth, which wa-} undamaged

The whistling shunting en-gine, lying cn its side, drowned the screams of the injured as rescuers raced to the scene.

A garage owner from Tournon who drove a rescue team to the scene, died of shock when he saw the twisted .wreckage.
