HOLLYWOOD, Dee. 29 (A Ai.). -Bob Hope bas been voted top box office star of 1949 in a poll of United States film exhibitors con-ducted by the trade magazina "Motion Picture Herald." Hope defeated his friend, Sing Crosby, who has held first place for five suc-cessive years.

The runners-up were the team of Bud Abbott and Lou Costello, John Wayne, Gary Cooper, ' =ry Grant, Betty Grbble, Esther Williams, Humphrey Bogart and Clark Gable.

Although she was among the leading 10 In the previous 'bree years. Ingrid Bergman was not named in the first 25 selections this
