BAU, XS ROME.

The "Daily Mail" correspondent in Rome says that most of Rome's 'best families attended a crowded charity "Ball of the Ribbons" at .the.. Gallery .of Modern Art in Rome last night; but there, were, only two white ties. and tails in the place. The full dress belonged to Princess Margaret's two Scot-land Tard detectives, who have upheld the best traditions of Eng-lish tailoring throughout the tour. The princess, barons and counts, all wore black informal ties.

When Princess Margaret ar-rived at the ball the' crush was terrific. Her table was guarded by two white-tied detectives, and Italians, who sometimes linked hands to keep the fashionable crowd back.
