NEW HILLS ROAD. LINK FOR MOTORISTS. Kalamunda to Mundaring Weir. The Acting-Minister for Works (Mr. E. H. Gray) announced yesterday that a new road, extending 7 1/2 miles from Piesse's Brook, near Kalamunda, to Mundaring Weir, was now ready for traffic. Com-pletion of this new road will enable motorists to make a pleasant round trip of about 50 miles from Perth through the hills. Further improvements will be shortly carried out at the weir end of the new road. The seven-mile stretch from the Guild-ford-road to Kalamunda has been con-siderably improved during the last few months, and further construction work is proceeding. The distance from Kala-munda to Piesse's Brook is 2 1/2 miles. Thence motorists may proceed along the new road to Mundaring Weir, on to Mun-daring and through Greenmount to Perth. The Forestry Department has developed picnic grounds on the new road and provi-sion has been made for fireplaces. The old Kalamunda-Mundaring Weir road led directly to Piesse's Brook over very steep grades. The new road, which was located several years age, reaches Piesse's Brook by easy grades some distance upstream from the old road.

A map illustrating the road trip of about 50 miles which motorists can make from Perth through the hills. It is possible through the completion of a new road extending 7 1/2 miles from Piesse's Brook, near Kalamunda, to Mundaring Weir.
