by Australian scenarists, actors, and film director. Backed by Columbia Pictures, a big American film company, this is the first venture of a Hollywood studio into feature film production here. The managing director of Columbia Pictures Pty., Ltd. in Australia (Mr. N. P. Pery), will produce the film with Mr. Ken. G. Hall, of Cinesound Productions, a director. The story will be written by playwright Max Afford, assisted by Norman Ellison, Sydney journalist.The The film probably will be exhibited in Australia in about a. year. Mr. Pery added that 'Smithy's' family had offered their support and the Federal Government and the Chief of the Air Staff also had offered to co-operate. Mr. Hall is Australia's most competent picture production executive, says The CourierMail film writer (Te Pana).
