Captain R. ' Desoldenhoff,." in an article published in the British Medical Journal, describes.: a case in Bombay of a Hindu, who, after swal-lowing articles, hauled them out with a long tape, which he, had swallowed in order to entangle' them.
The tape failed to perform its duty, but the show had to continue. ..
Captain Desoldenhoff, at the conse-quent operation, - recovered 19 - penknifes, pieces of six others, and two keys. . .
DRANK 21 PINTS.
James Donowho, after drinking, six pints of ale in the afternoon and .10 pints in the evening, made a bet-that he could drink five pints in five min-utes. He took, off his- coat and: ac-, complished the feat six seconds un-der the time limit
He was taken to the hospital, where a gallon of ale was pumped out of his stomach.
The bench dismissed the~;çhairgê against the hotel manager for per-mitting drunkenness/ the .defence be-ing that the barmaid thought the-five pints were for different persons.
