Mr. W. Gardner, chairman Woothakata Shire Council, is in receipt of a letter from the Hon. H. Bruce in which he states that the sum'of £50 from the Unemployment " Relief Fund has been granted forimprovements to the Ma-reeba State school grounds. "

Miss Millie Roberts, Mareeba, has re-ceived word that she was successful in passing the examination for appoint-ment as telephonist' àt Cairns. Miss Roberts had the honor of securing sec-ond place out of the 25 candidates who sat for the examination.

Miss May Carne returned home OD Tuesday, after spending an extended holiday with relatives in Brisbane.'
