BETTER FARMING TRAIN.

Expenditure Being Reviewed.

When the Better Farming Train, which is now touring the Gippsland district, was at Clyde on Monday, the opinion was expressed that in view of the depression of the State finances temporally discontinuance of the hours by the train should be, considered. The Minister for Agriculture (Mr. Slater) said yesterday that the expenditure on the train had proved of. inestimable value as a means of agricultiiral, cdiicatioii. In view of the need for economy, the expenditure was being reviewed.

Discontinuance of the Better Farming Train as a measure of economy in the present depression is not being considered by the Railways department. Officials of the department expressed surprise at the report that some farmers had criticised the expense incurred in the conduct of the train. They claim that, although the train was not revenue producing, it had been of great benefit to the farming community.
