SOCCER STARS WITH LATROBE

With four international players in the team Latrobe will take the field at the opening of the Soccer season to-morrow with one of the

strongest combinations in the com- petition for a Iong time. An unusual number of players have changed clubs this year, and Latrobe have gained, more than any other team from the general re-shuffle. They have secured the services of Brittain and R. Kitching, both of whom represented Australia last year, and the former Bundamba players Roderick and L. Gibb, also internationals. As the team has retained most of. last year's defenders, several of whom won State honours, the defence should be exceptionally strong. Y.M.C.A. Gains Y.M.C.A. have secured Nason, the former Booval forward, who is re-garded as one of the best inside men in the game, Jackson and G. Pettersen. The loss of Roderick and Gibb may prove serious to Bundamba, last year'spremiers, but the team will be helped by players from the St. Helen's Clubwhich will not compete this year. Several of the Brisbane clubs, par-ticularly Corinthians are giving younger players their opportunity! Corinthians have signed on two juniors in J. Morris and J. Head, who are likely to make a name for themselves in senior football. One of the best games to-morrow should be that between Booval and Y.M.C.A., at Booval. Nason will take the field against Booval, his old club and his form may have a big bearino on the result. The match should be close, but Booval always have been hard to beat at home, and may take the points.

Test For Easts Much interest will centre in the per-formance of Latrobe against Eastern Suburbs at Lang Park. Latrobe have an exceptionally strong side, and seem likely to give Easts a searching test, Unless closely watched, Brittain and Kitching are certain to prove danger-ous forwards, and Easts' vanguard may have great difficulty in outwitting the opposing defence.
