Tennis Player And Critic

LONDON, June 18.— Mr. Arthur Wallis Myers, the world's leading tennis writer, died yesterday . at the age of 61.

Alter a long career in international md tournament tennis Mr. Myers sarned even greater fame as tennis writer for the Daily Telegraph. His ranking of the worlds leading tennis players had the equivalent of official standing. The son of a clergyman, he entered journalism on the Westminster Gaz;ttc. later joined the editorial staff, of Geo. Newnes Ltd., and in 1909 joined the Daily Telegraph. For more than 20 years he was lawn tennis editor of the Field. He won a number of tournaments in England and abroad, and captained British teams in Europe, South Africa, and India. Mr. Myers founded the International Lawn Tennis Club of Great Britain in. 1924. . In the Great War he was attached to the Department of Information, and was sent on two special missions to Ctaly. Subsequently he became Direcior of Publications of the National War Aims Committee. . ? -He has written a number of books on tennis and other subjects.
