Experienced Men . Chosen. The Victorian team as selected consists mainly of experienced players, containing no fewer than six men who have won interstate honours. In batting, the side will be strong and the pitchers, Logan and Middleton, have been doing wel this season with their respective teams, Fitzroy and Prahran. Howard Parkin, who will captain the side, has been playing left held for Fitzroy for a number of years. He was centre field for Victoria at the last carnival in Melbourne and also represented his State at carnivals in Sydney. He is an opening batsman for Fitzroy in the district pennant competition The vice-captain, Charlie Boilton, is captain of Prlhran. which has won the "A" grade premiership in the metropolitan division for the last two or three years. Alan Logan and Tom Ruddell, of Fit.roy, will probably be the first battery. Logan is a young player who has snown great promise since he was.promoted this year from the metropolitan to the league division. With Ruddell he has played a prominent part in the reconstruction of the Fitzroy side. Jack Middleton and Jack Ferguson, pitcher and catcher respectively for Prahran, have been the mainstays in the successful Prahran combination. H. King will probably be on first base. He has been playing brilliantly for Richmond this season. Two seasons ago he captained the Victorian colts in the pennant cricket competition. He has been playing with the Richmond baseball team for the last five years, but he has not limited his sporting activities to baseball and cricket, as he was a member of the Melbourne Grammar School football team, which won the inter-college championship in 1930. The third baseman, Ted Melling, has been. playing for Fitzroy for about ten years. He is a good hitter and plays for the Fitzroy cricket eleven. Les Smith. short stop, was a member of the Victorian team at the interstate baseball carnival held in Sydney last month. He pitches for Essendon and has proved himself to be a safe batsman.O George Heron (Collingwood) may play at -centre field. He represented Victoria at the carnival held .there last year, and has also played for his State in, Sydney and Adelaide. He is an astute base runner and possesses a safe pair of hands. -Cyril -Johnson, right field for Carlton, is one of the best outfielders in Victoria. The last member of, the side is Charlie Scott, of Collingwood. He is a good fighting batsman, a safe fieldsman and can be called upon .to $pitch if necessary. He has played for. Victoria on many occasions and with his wealth of experience he should be an invaluable member of the party. He is opening batsman for Collingwood and also a useful change bowler. The manager of the side is Mr. R. R. Hindson, president of the Victorian Baser ball Association. A former Williamstown player, he has .held the presidential position for the past five years, and has been one of the dutstanding figures in the administration of baseball in Victoria.
