SHEEP AND LAMBS.

.LTSIl.lY, JAN. 15.

The railway unions for this week's supply shows a liberal allotment of trucks on all lines." AtIhmiL'h Riverina coiislerninents are of Moderate extent. Northern districts' orders were more generally supplied to Bendigo market, Riverina drafts effected to Newmarket come off Only the Tociimiiiil, Wahgunyah, and Wodonga. The loaninn on unions lines comprised 60 Hucks Northmusical and limpet- climax, CO via border stations from New- South Wales, 25 Northern district, 150 (Goulburn Valley- (Including Mansfield line), to ivcMuniii, Ascot, and Xortli-Wwlein, HO Central districts, including many shoit-dlslaiioed consignments and 100 from Gippsland. Direct consign-ment to export works Is r-tr-ntllly decreasing. Ilepol and stand-by orders allotted to special country sales added a fair proportion to the full yarding of stores. A special store sheep sale is listed this week for Wednesday. Breeding ewes due to lamb early are now coming forward in fairly n-prvscir-jitltp lots, while registered flock sheep sales will terminate towards the end of this family.

Desirable straight lines of early shorn wet hen, especially young crossbreds and comebacks, are in good general request, and for such Gippsland buyers are technically keen bidders in the fat pens, though usually preferring to obtain forwell conditioned sorts for topping-up. SUno weathers still claim a full shares of attention, e-Nrt'tii late drop, small sorts, which sold at lesssoundly low figures.

The market was fully supplied, being repre-sensible of all classes. . In best crossbred and comeback sections both late and early shorn consignments were well distributed, and especially In this division the relative. value of pelts, is against practically half-woolled skins was readily determined by the respective difference in prices realised. Various districts contributed numerous pens of good merino wethers, only a few small lots currying, exceptionally good skins, best ewes were moderately- represented, middling and inferior descriptions largely piceloininuliug In this section. The market opened with a strong local: trade demand, which was well sustained!, and prices ruled firm until towards the close, the competition for wethers became weaker and prices for such levelled afforded a bend. Exporters opera 12-in exclusively in fat ewes, which realised fully late rates. Store sheep were In spirited request, closing decidedly firmer.

The bulk or the supply consisted of shorn consignments, the greater portion being suitable either for local or export trade. *. Tile few outstanding consignments carried extra value full woolled skins. Comparatively, however, best shorn lambs displayed a much better average of quality. Graziers secured sundry odd lots, and afforded initial assistance to competition for medium conditioned sorts. The demand was animated, and general competition of both local and export buyers was well maintained throughout, closing a shade firmer.
