ENORMOUS FLOODS IN BRISBANE.

NO COMMUNICATION.

We were informed by the Telegraph Master, last night, that all telegraphic com-munication ceased yesterday evening owing to extremely heavy floods in and around Brisbane, the news of which was wired through just before the lines were sub-merged and the circuit broken. The message sent to the telegraph managers in the North, and to Cairns among, the other stations stated that Brisbane was almost isolated. The river came down higher than during the great flood of 1890, and evidently suddenly and unexpect -edly. The valley of the river received an enormous quantity of rain, and the flood was backed up very high by the King Tides. There is no chance of obtaining telegraphic communication for three or four days.

The damage done will unquestionably be great and the losses severe.
