DF.ATH OP WILD DAYICELL.

I From the Fitld.X

This well-known horse, famous alike oa th» turf and at the stud, died at Chilton on Saturday, November 26. He was bred by Mr. Pnnhfun in 1852. and by Ion out of Bllan

Middleton, by Bay Middleton. Wild DayreU was sold when a yearling to Lord Henry Lennox, but soon afterwards bought back again at tha hammer by his breeder, in whoso colours ho ran. There is no saying how good an a racohorse he really was, as Wild DayreU was never „. extended in public while he was one of thfc'j highest tried horses ever stripped. He beac Oubton as he pleasod, and won the Derby just when and where he liked, and to look at in tho paddock he was 'fit to carry' the small and poor field opposed to him. Nevertheless, from. the time he first came into the market, Wild DayreU was kid against with unceasing hostility as ' a big overgrown brute,' ^.trained by th» gardenei,' and bo forth. A member of the ring named Minnithorpe, rather supposed to bo acting for others, went over the race for a largo stake, and the. settling was an uncomfortable one. ' At the stud Wild DayreU is distinguished as the sire of Buccaneer— no doubt tke bent horso of his year— of TJi» ftake» AraUuohe, and other good runners.
