THE LATE MR. ALLAN McFARLANE AND THE MOUNT BARKER AGRICULTURAL AND HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

To The Editor.

Sir— At a meeting of the Committee of the Mount Barker Agricultural and Horticultural Association, held at Woodside on the 14th inst., the Secretary was requested to forward a copy of

the following minute to you, requesting that you would be kind enough to insert the same in your paper. I am, Sir, &c., LOUIS WEICHARD Secretary, Woodside, March 15, 1864. "The Secretary read a letter from the late Allan McFarlane, Esq., MP., dated the 11th of March, stating his readiness to act as one of the Judges of Horses at the forthcoming Show, to take place at Woodside on the 24th instant. "It was unanimously resolved to place the fol-lowing resolution on the minutes of the Associa-tion:— 'That the members of the Committee of the Mount Barker Agricultural and Horticultural Association view with deep regret the loss sus-tained by the colony at large, but particularly by the above Association, through the death of the late Allan McFarlane, Esq., who was for many years closely connected with the Society, and who has rendered invaluable services to the same by his constant readiness to assist in promoting its welfare. And that they deeply sympathize with the bereaved family in the severe loss they have sustained.'"
