STREET DISTURBANCES.

TO THE EDITOR.

Sir. - According to a paragraph which appeared in Monday morning's issue, you set me down as an illiterate man. Now, Sir, as a preacher of the Christian Israelites, I consider you ought to give

some satisfactory explanation of the word "illiterate," or whether was it published to encourage a further disturbance of the peace during the preaching of the Gospel on Sunday evenings, as there are a few unruly persons who are glad of the least encouragement to disturb the peaceable congregation that assembles at the steps of the Supreme Court- House. I am. Sir, &c., JOHN KERNEY. Adelaide. February 7, 1865. [So far from having any desire to encourage a disturbance of the peace, we blamed the persons who created it and characterized their conduct as a nuisance which should not be tolerated. With regard to Mr. Kerney's literary qualifications, we must leave them to speak for themselves. - Ed. ] Central Road Board Members' Attendances. —The following list shows the number of attend+ances of the members of the Central Road Board during 1864 :-W.
