SOUTH CAMBERWELL TRAM FARE.

A protest against the refusal of the Tramways Board to provide through fares was made by members of the South Camberwell Progress Association at the annual meeting of the asso-ciation. It was claimed that the 8d. tram fare from South Camberwell to the city was the high-est in Australia for a comparatively short journey.

NEW RAILWAY STATION NAMED.

Some months ago the Werribee Council was

invited by the Railways department to suggest

a name for the new railway station between New-

port and Laverton. In view of the interest shown by the president of the shire (Councillor

M. Galvin) in the development of Altona and

the district, it was decided, after several names of historical character had been rejected, to submit the name "Galvin." The council has been advised that the selection has been ap-proved.
