GILBERT AND SULLIVAN OPERA SEASON

. To-night and to-morrow . evening, 'Patience,' one of the most fascinating of the Savoy series, will be presented bv the J. C. Williamson Gilbert

and Sullian Opera Company at His Majesty's Theatre. In 'Patience' Gilbert's satire is directed against the aesthetic craze of the early Victorian period. The 20 love-sick maidens who vent their fervid though unrequited love upon the two longr-haired' poets are the very antithesis of the score of healthy-minded dragoons. As the aesthetic sham, Reginald Bunthorne, Ivan Menzies has a thoroughly congenial role. Lady Jane is played by Evelyn Hall; the roles of the love-sick maidens are taken by Helen Langton, Eileen Kelly, and Phyllis Dickinson. Winifred Lawson is the healthy dalryr maid Patience, while Gregory Stroud appears as Archibald Grosvenor, and Richard Watson as Colonel Calverlay. Commencing with the matinee next Wednesday, 'The Pirates of Penzance' and 'Trial By Jury' will be presented.
