SOCCER COUNCILS CLAIMS FOR CODE'S PROGRESS

Moving; the adoption of the report at the -annual general meeting of the Queensland Soccer Council last night, the president (Mr W. Elson Green)

claimed that the growth in popularity of the code during last season ' was such that an independent analysis of attendances at club games would, reveal numbers that excelled that of Rugby Union and approached Rugby League. The election of, the Rev. D. J. R. Delbridge, president of the B.D.F.A., as a member of the tours committee of the Australian Soccer Football Association, wa.s the only change made in the council's office-bearers for the ensuing' season. . . Dr. T. P.! Fry said there were Indications that a team would be formed

from within the Queensland University for next season, and that the promotion of a competition for secondary school teams was a distinct possibility. A . subcommittee was appointed to investigate,the possibilities of a paid organiser, and the appointment of a secretary before the opening of the season next year. Officials elected for the 1938 season nre: —Patron, his Excellency (Sir Leslie Orme Wilson): honorary president, the Most Hev. Dr. J. W. C. Wand: president, Mr. W. Elson Grjien; honorary secretary, Mr. Jos. Peebles: honorary treasurer. Mr. Arthur Blackshaw; Australian selector, Mr. Alex Glbb: Queensland selectors, Messrs. A. Glbb, R. Rlgby. and the Rev. D. J. R. Dclbrldlje; representative on the Etandlns comrrMttee of the A.E.P.A. Mr. W. E. Green; representative on the lours committee ol the A.8.F.A..V Hev. D. J, B. Delbridge. . . .
