NEXT SATURDAY'S GAMES.

South's Precarious Position.

With the fight for the final four quietly drawing to a close, interest will be at its highest in the set of fixtures to he played on Saturday as follow:

West Perth v. East Perth, at Leederville.

South Fremantle v. East Fremantle, at Fre-

mantle.

Clareraont-Cottcsloe v. Perth, at W.A.C.A.

Again tho "Fremantle Derby" takes pride of place ns the most important of the games. Anxious to regain their lost position-last Saturday West Perth forced them back to third place-South Fre-mantle will endeavour with all their might to record their first victory for the season 'against their -neighbours and rivals, East Fremantle. Vhtory has fallen to the Blue and Whites on the two pre%rious occasions' the seaside teams have met-by 8.18 to 7.11 on June 1, and by 13.17 to 11.20 on June 52. South have lost throe of their last four games, East Perth going down to them on August 3, and the prevailing opinion is that the Red and Whites have either gone stale, or lost their punch. In-cidentally, South have the hardest games to play of all the clubs before the semi-finals, having to meet, after Saturday next, Subiaco, Claremont-Cottesloe, and West Perth, all of whom have beaten the seasidcrs this season. It will he seen, then, that if South lest all their remaining fix

lures, and Subiaco win their throe forth-

coming games (against South, East Perth,, and Perth-not very formidable oppo- ! nents), and Claremont win at least two of their games (against Perth, West Perth, and South), Subiaco will be level with the scasiders for fourth place, in which case the fourth place will be decided by the points average. Saturday's game, there-fore, will be of vital, importance for the Red and Whites; but although they always show to best advantage against East Fre-mantle, one cannot sec them recording a

victory.

Still hopeful of wresting the minor pre-miership from the present leaders, West Perth will take no chances against the bot-tom side, East Perth. It seems impossible' i for a team that has won only one game this

season to win against the Cardinals, who have lost only one out of their past eight

matches.

Neither Claremont-Cottesloe nor Perth has been revealing impressive form of late, but the Red Le?*'' dismal showing against West Perth last Saturday does not point to their success over thc combine.
